i've really never cared for The King and I, but I've only known it from
the movie. So it was with some apprehension that I chose to drive 2-
1/2 hours on a dark night in San Francisco traffic to see SHN's offering
at the Golden Gate Theater. And I loved every minute of it. From the
time the orchestra struck its first notes and the ship swung into view
carrying Anna and her son, I knew we were in very capable hands. The
orchestra was rich and full balancing the lovely voices that brought
these songs to life for me. The costumes were beautiful The sets
capably took us from one scene to the next adding richness to the
action without being intrusive. The lighting worked well, and the
movement on stage flowed easily. I feasted on the sounds, the sights,
and the chance to get to know why this play has endured. This is a
wonderful presentation. Go. Take the family. Spend time with each
other in beautiful San Francisco finishing the night with this offering. I
found it well worth the effort.

WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE
I have gone to many plays and often come out thinking, I wish the vocals had been
better. That was not the case with The King and I last night at the Moran Theatre. The
vocals were superb, the sets rich looking, the kids adorable, and the music of R & H,
timeless. Really enjoyed a wonderful night at the Theatre. Do not miss it!

FABULOUS
I was enthralled! Fabulous, funny
and the fastest 2+ hours I have spent
in a long time. Costumes, sets and
acting/singing were top notch. A must
see. I wish we had been a little closer.
We began our evening at the
Indochine restaurant which was
delicious and reasonably priced.

SIMPLY PERFECT
A masterfully staged production without a
weak link in the cast. An insanely outstanding
orchestra We saw a matinee, so I was a bit
worried the energy might be lackluster on
stage. I was so wrong. The performance we
saw on July 21 was one of magic, when
everything was “on.” It felt like a Saturday night
performance.
The leads were perfect in their singing, acting,
comedic timing and just their gusto for
pleasing the semi-dead audience. My wife and
I loved it so much we tried to get tickets to the
evening performance but only the last row was
available. Bottom line, Broadway, London, etc.,
etc., etc....you’ll never see a finer performance
of The King andI I.

THE KING & I
I never had such a delightful time watching a live performance! I live near
Albuquerque , NM, and watched it at the University's Popejoy auditorium. The
settings were gorgeous; the performers magnificent in their acting, singing, &
intricate dancing; and, of course, the live orchestra making the musical so real. I've
always loved the movie but you must see it in the theater to get an even better feel
for this touching story, set in Siam (Thailand). The many children in the play added to
the family-friendly nature of "The King & I." I encourage you to go to this exceptional
Broadway performance.

NICE SHOW FOR KIDS AND ADULTS
The show looked like it was made for
the Fox Teater. It just looked like the
whole place was in tune with the play.
My family liked the play. The 2h55
went by so fast

KING AND I FOX THEATER DETRIT
Stunning. Best performance I've seen in a LONG time. The acting, the set, the music, the dance, the vocals, the costumes - perfect. Yes, take the whole family. Our seats were right up front. If driving from northern suburbs and taking I-75, give yourself
a little more than an hour to get there and park.

AWESOME!
The musical captivatedthe audience
with the beautiful voices of the cast.
Anna and the Ling are perfectly
matched, both playing extraordinary
characters. The dancing was amazing
and well thought out. Also, the
costumes are fantastic as well as the
lighting. The designers got it all
perfectly. The set was another
fantastic part of the show. Everyone
in the Hershey area should go to see
this beautiful rendition.

SOMETHING MISSING
The performance was pleasant, however I was quite disappointed in the ending. I was expecting Something Wonderful to be played and sung when the King died. Instead, the play ended abruptly and the players came out for the curtain call. What a lost opportunity of emotion. I actually came home and was able to find and watch the end of the movie on Youtube, and realized that I was correct in my expectation. It would have made such a difference.

UNDERWHELMED
I saw this a few days ago and must say it was the least enjoyable show I've see so far
this year. It has been many, many years since I saw the movie, but I just didn't care
for this. The opening number was nice, but it just didn't meet my expectations
overall or entertain me as I'd hoped. The best part of the show was the actor that
played the king. He really was superb throughout the whole show and he couldn't
have done a better job.
I had an excellent seat, in the middle of the fifth row, so had a great view of
everything. I have to come from out of town, so i really want it to be worth it
considering it's a day long affair and expensive. Sad to say, this show just wasn't
worth it to me.
