Macy's Thanksgiving Parade will go on!

Author WendyWendy, November 24th, 2020

These Broadway musicals will reunite to perform at an unusual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade!

In a year that has seen the world grind to a halt, the organizers behind the annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade have had to rethink how they'll produce the iconic New York event in 2020.

Instead of hundreds of dancers, marching bands, balloons and floats trekking around New York with thousands of spectators crammed onto the streets, this year's parade will instead be a pre-recorded affair filmed and broadcast from Herald Square.

Although there will be 75% fewer participants than usual NBC have confirmed that a few Broadway performances will go ahead. This year's line up includes Hamilton, Mean Girls, Ain't too Proud: The Life and Times of the Temptations and Jagged Little Pill. The performances will be filmed in the coming weeks and won't be broadcast live like usual, but instead will make the pre-recorded broadcast that will air on the morning of November 26, 2020.

Although it will look a little different this year, we know that the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade will be as special as ever. We hope that we'll be back on the streets of New York next year!
